Ahmet Sel was born in 1956. He settled in France in 1981. Between 1990 and 2000, he lived in Russia where he was a correspondent and bureau chief for Sipa Press. In 2005-2006, he was the chief editor for Sipa Press in Paris. Sel is a lecturer at the Media and Communication Systems department of Istanbul Bilgi University. His photographs, which are distributed by Sipa Press, Fedephoto and Opale, are published in many international newspapers and magazines. He has published several books including “Gens de Moscou”, (Paris: Catelya Editions, 2001); “Kaboul Portraits poses”, (Paris: Editions Horizon Illimité, 2003); “Galop”, (Paris: Editions Horizon Illimité, 2003); and “Moskova Insanları”, (Istanbul: Yapı Kredi Yayınları, 2003). Sel won the "Fuji Film Press Photo Award France" in the portrait category in 2003, and the Gold Award of National Magazine Awards Foundation (Canada) in the "Words & Pictures" category in 2004. Currently, he lives and works in Paris.
