Ali Borovalı was born in Istanbul in 1958. After graduating from the Faculty of Administrative Sciences at Boğaziçi University, he pursued his study in the US from 1981 to 1984. Along with his study, Borovalı studied photography in Florida. He later concentrated on photography and became a photographer. He has attended many international photography competitions, festivals, conferences, and workshops. He received many awards such as a Fujifilm Euro-Press award (1997), a Şinasi Barutçu Cup (1999) and a Pamukbank prize (1999). His interviews have been published in various important photography, travel and fashion magazines and journals such as Atlas, GEO, National Geographic Traveler, Discovery Magazine, Le Monde2, Gezi, Skylife, Elle, Maison Française and Marie Claire. In 1998 Borovalı was nominated to the award "Press Photographer of the Year" in Europe. He has held many solo exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. Borovalı has published several books including "Türk Fotoğrafçıları Kütüphanesi 31 / Turkish Photographer′s Library 31" (2005). He currently continues his work in Istanbul.
