Aylin Tekiner was born in Nevşehir in 1978. She graduated from the Sculpture Department in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Hacettepe University in 1999. After completing her Master′s degree at her alma mater in 2003, she obtained her Ph.D. at Ankara University, Institute of Educational Sciences, Cultural Fundamentals of Education Department in 2008.
Dr. Tekiner has attended international symposiums and conferences to present her paper. She has published several books including "Ataturk Statues: Cult, Esthetics, and Politics" (Istanbul: İletişim Yayınları, 2010).
Dr. Tekiner has had solo exhibitions and participated in many group exhibitions in Turkey and New York. She taught New Media, Art, and Activism at Long Island University, New York. Tekiner received a Special Research Fellowship by the Yale School of Drama. Since 2011 she has been living both in New York and Istanbul. Dr. Tekiner is a member of Collective Memory Platform, which was formed by the families of 28 victims of the political murders in modern Turkey.
