Bahar Yürükoğlu was born in Washington DC in 1981. After graduating from the Photography Department at the School of Visual Arts in New York in 2003, she completed her Master′s degree in Interrelated Media at Massachusetts College of Art & Design in Boston in 2011. Since 2003 Yürükoğlu has participated in various group exhibitions and held many solo exhibitions in Turkey and the US. She has attended several artist residency programs such as "the Arctic Circle" in Istanbul (2015), Maumau works in Istanbul (2014-2015), "Brush Creek Foundation for the Arts," in Wyoming (2013) and "SIM" the Association of Icelandic Visual Artists in Reykjavik (2012). In 2011 she received an emerging artist grant from the St. Botolph Club Foundation in Boston. Yürükoğlu currently continues her work in Istanbul.
