Burcu Öztürk Karabey was born in Ankara in 1975. She graduated from Hacettepe University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Ceramics in 1996 and started to work as a Research Assistant at the same department in 1997. In 1999 she finished her M.A. thesis named “The Reflection of Tent Form in Original Ceramic Applications”. She had a short term working experience in Holland in 2003. She finished her Ph.D. thesis named “Structuring Period of the Ceramic Applications in a Plastic Thinking System” in March 2004. She had her first solo exhibition in 2003. She has had numerous group exhibitions both in Turkey and abroad. Burcu Karabey, whose works are included in special collections, has won seven awards including the international Honor Medal from Russian Orient Arts Museum (1998) and the II. Triennial of Flower Vases honorable diploma from Croatia (2005). She has written many articles on ceramics and participated in many seminars and international conferences. She wants to expresses her art as an abstraction of observations of the current era and of her feelings for life. She considers her applications as being structured spiritually. Burcu Karabey is currently working in Hacettepe University as an instructor.

2002, participating to the workshop subjected “Dream” according to the first International Psychological Health and Artistic Creativity Symposium”, Ankara Univ. Health Faculty, Morphology Building, Ankara.
2002, Ceramic workshop in the first Youth Meeting.
2003, participating to the “porcelain and stoneware” workshop organized by Kees Hogendam in Holland.
2004, Seminar given with the subject “Ceramic Applications in Art Education” according to the “Seminars for Preschool and primary school painting teachers” Turkish Education Association, Ankara.
2004, Workshop with Fred Olsen Constructing of Wood Firing and Salt Firing Kilns” participation, H.U. Faculty of Fine Arts, Dept. of Ceramics, Ankara.
2004, TEV Foundation workshop with primary school students according to the celebrations of 23rd of April “Children’s Day” and exhibition in Anatolian Museum collection.
2007, Talk show about the solo exhibition in Aysel Gözübüyük Sanatevi in TRT Ankara Radio, Studio Ankara Program.
2007, Poster paper titled as “Research of Sintered Slips for 1150C Degrees” SERES 07’ Eskişehir.
2007, Seminar given with the subject “The Artistic Effects of Additive Materials in Clay Bodies in Ceramic Art” in the XIII. National Clay Symposium organized by Süleyman Demirel University Architecture and Engineering Faculty Geology Department, Isparta.
