Cemal Turgay

Cemal Turgay was born in Izmit in 1929. In 1950, he founded his photography studio and started working as a professional photographer. He joined AFAK (Adapazarı Amateurs of Photography Group) in 1961, and Group 5, which was directed by Hüsnü Gürsel, in 1966. Turgay has had many solo exhibitions and has participated in numerous group exhibitions of Group 5 in Turkey. He has received many awards in photography competitions. He has published two photography books: “İzmit’i Aramak” (1997) and “Ben İzmit, işte Suretim” (2008). Currently, Turgay works with his son and photographer Cem Turgay in Izmit.
