Ege Berensel was born in Muğla in 1968. He graduated from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering at Middle East Technical University. With Ulus Baker, Berensel edited “Sinema”, “Anarşizm” and “Deleuze Dersleri” series for Öteki publications. He is one of the founders of the Cinema magazine “25. Kare”. His poems, writings, and translations have been published in many magazines including “Edebiyat ve Eleştiri”, “Zinhar”, “Siyahi”, “25 Kare” “Sinemasal”, and “Kısa Devre”. Berensel is a member of Angela Melitopoulos and Maurizio Lazzarato’s Timescapes Group. His video “Panoptikon” won a prize at national and international film festivals. His video installation “here(t)here” (with the VideA group) was exhibited at the “B-Zone” in the Berlin KW in 2005, and at Fundació Antoni Tàpies, Barcelona in 2007. In addition, he is one of the writers of ““B-Zone: Becoming Europe and Beyond”. As a scenarist, Berensel has directed many films including “Mü-Hür” (1993), which was awarded third prize in the Hamburg Low-Budget Video Art Festival in 1994, and “Hüthüt” (1994), which won first prize in the 7th Ankara Film Festival, Experimental Shirt Film in 1996.  He shut and directed “Türkü Söylemeyen Tepe” (documentary film, 2007), which was nominated in the amateur category of the 19th Ankara International Film Festival, National Documentary Film Competition in 2008.
