Ekin Onat von Merhart was born in Istanbul in 1976. In her childhood, she learned classic ballet, modern dance and piano, and performed on many stages. During her education at Istanbul Conservatory, she was honored at many occasions. Onat received further education on ballet and choreography at Berlin Conservatory and participated in the theatre of Andrej Woron ‘Theatre Kreatur’ as one of the main characters.
In order to learn dance culture in different cultural backgrounds, Onat went to Gabon in Africa and Bali in Indonesia. She stayed in Bali for 3 years and worked on different projects such as the project named ‘Fallen from Haven’. She exhibited it in Africa (Gabon), Indonesia (Jogjakarta, Bali) and Singapore. After she returned from Asia to Istanbul in 2000, Onat completed her book she had written in Bali. She has written about international art events and exhibitions in different art magazines and daily newspapers. She has had one solo exhibition and participated in many national and international art exhibitions, especially in Istanbul and Bodrum. She is a member of the Turkish International Art Association since 2008.
