Prof. Ergin İnan was born in Malatya in 1943. He started the Istanbul University Law School in 1963, and then Pictorial Art at the Istanbul State Institute of Applied Fine Arts. Graduating in 1968, İnan became a teacher′s assistant under Helmut Hungerberg. In 1969, the artist won a grant at the Salzburg Summer Academy and studied under Prof. Emilio Vedova. Between the years of 1971 to 1973, he won a German exchange fellowship to study painting and prints under Prof. Rudi Tröger and Prof. Mac Zimmermann at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts. İnan went on many research visits to the museums of Paris, Venice, Verona, Montova, Florence, Amsterdam, Rotterdam and London in the years 1972 –1981. After being appointed to the faculty of the Marmara University, School of Fine Arts in 1982, İnan won a German exchange fellowship (DAAD) again and researched at the fine arts academies and museums in Munich and Berlin between 1983 and 1987. He gained a full professorship in the Marmara University School of Fine Arts in 1985. He worked and researched on painting in Austria, Germany, France and Italy. In 1985 and 1986 he was invited by German and Belgian universities as a guest professor. Prof. İnan was chosen as one of the Turkish artists to enhance the new wing of the Presidential Palace in the Hall of Reception in 1990 and he executed a work called "Inscription". He is the winner of 12 awards. This artist has many exhibitions within the country as well as abroad. |
