Eser Afacan was born in 1953. He started painting at a young age. He studied in Manchester before moving to Norway in 1978 to study Mathematics and Physics at the University of Bergen. Afacan met Norwegian artist Odd Nerdrum, and worked painting under him at his studio in Oslo. In 1986 Afacan held his first exhibition. Since then he has held many solo exhibitions in many countries such as Norway, Turkey, USA, and Canada. After living between England and Norway until 1985, Afacan moved to the United States before immigrating to Canada in 2003. He currently lives and works in Kingston, Ontario.
