Firuz Kutal was born in Turkey. He studied engineering and mathematics at Boğaziçi University. He also worked as a political cartoonist in some newspapers. After his graduation from university in 1985, he moved to Oslo in Norway. He studied graphic design and illustration at Oslo National College of Applied Art and received a master’s degree. Since 1990, Kutal has worked as a professional freelancer. He creates comic-strips and animations as well as cartoons and illustrations. He has had solo exhibitions in Istanbul, Oslo and Graz. He also participated in many group exhibitions in Izmir, Ankara, Athens, Barcelona and Madrid. Kutal currently collaborates with some newspapers and magazines such as "Ny Tid", "Klassekampen", "Dagbladet", "Syn & Segn" and "Spesialpedagogik", "Forfatteren" in Norway; "Birgun", "Seruven", "Lacivert" and "Ozne" in Turkey and "Independent Media Center" and "Comedy Corner" in Greece.
Kutal is a member of Norwegian FECO and German based Don-Quichotte Cartoon Committee. He is a regular comment cartoonist in a periodical "Magasinet", which has published by the Amnesty International Norway Branch.
