Gökhan Demirer was born in Edirne in 1960. He spent his childhood in Şiran, Gülşehir and Izmir. He studied economics at Dokuz Eylül University. Demirer started photography in Izmir. He became a member of the Association of Photograph Artists in Ankara (AFSAD) in 1991. Between 1992 and 1993, he served as one of the administrative board members on photographic education in the AFSAD. Between 2006 and 2006, he served as a director of the AFSAD. Currently Demirer continues taking photographs while he works as an economic specialist at the Central Bank.
