Bülent Erkmen was born in Istanbul in 1947, and graduated from the Department of Graphic Design at the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts. He has created works within a wide spectrum ranging from design of logos, corporate identities, posters, book covers, books, magazines, brochures, stamps, calendars, packaging, 3D objects, advertising, illustration, periodicals, encyclopedias, newspapers, billboards, exhibitions, and museums, to urban signage systems and theatre direction. His works have been included in international publications, and he has received over 100 awards in national and international exhibitions and competitions since the 1980’s. Erkmen has participated in panel discussions and seminars, and presented papers. He has also held solo exhibitions. Over 80 of his works can be seen in the permanent exhibitions of graphic design museums in France, USA, Germany, Finland, and Poland. His articles, research projects and talks on various topics in graphic design have been published in several newspapers and periodicals and broadcasted on TV programs. Erkmen is one of the founding members of the advertising agency “Reklamevi.” In 1995, he founded "BEK Design and Consultancy Ltd." He has been a member of AGI (Alliance Graphique Internationale) since 1998. Currently, Erkmen continues to create graphic design in Istanbul. He also serves as a lecturer at Mimar Sinan University.
