Assoc. Prof. Gülten İmamoğlu was born in Tokat, in the district of Turhal in 1970. She graduated from the Department of Fine Arts Painting and Work in the Faculty of Education at Ondokuz Mayıs University in 1991. She then started working as a research assistant. Between 1991 and 1998, she continued her master’s and doctoral degree with proficiency in arts at her alma mater. In the Department of Fine Arts Painting and Work Education at her alma mater, İmamoğlu became an Assistant Professor in 1999; an Associate Professor in 2005. She has had over 39 solo exhibitions and participated in many group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad including New York, London, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Florida, Chicago, Bulgaria and Pakistan. Her works can be seen in many important collections in Turkey and foreign countries. In 2009, her work “Exile into Loneliness” was awarded first prize in the painting category of the London International Creative Competition. She received "May 2009 Showcase Winner" and "5th 2010 Showcase Juried Winner" awards from Artslant. She is a member of the International Association of Plastic Arts. Currently İmamoğlu continues to teach at Ondokuz Mayıs University.
