İbrahim Demirel was born in Malatya in 1941. He graduated from the State Academy of Applied and Fine Arts in 1970. After working as a graphic designer and an advertisement photographer at several companies, he founded Umut Poster Publications and Graphics Design Workshop in 1975. In 1979, his first photography album “Yaşam Kavgası” was published by the Dutch Government. Demirel has published various art publications including the text book “Fotoğraf” (1981), four portfolio books (1995), and “İbrahim Demirel Fotoğrafları Üzerine Bir İnceleme” (2004). In 1982, he established the “Sanatyapım Plastic Arts Workshop and Gallery” in Ankara. Demirel has also had numerous slide shows, exhibitions, seminars, and radio and TV programs. He has been awarded many times for his graphic designs and photography in Turkey and abroad. Between 1978 and 2008, he taught at the Department of Radio, TV, and Cinema in the Faculty of Communication at Gazi University. Demirel is a member of the Association of Professional Advertisement Photographers (PTFD), an honorary member of AFSAD and Club of Explorers.
