Ali Cabbar was born in Istanbul. He graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Marmara University in 1981. He completed his master’s degree at his alma mater in 1985. Cabbar had his first solo exhibition before moving to Australia in 1988. He worked as a graphic designer and illustrator for many years while he kept on exhibiting irregularly. In 2001, he quit his daytime job to concentrate on his art work. Since then, Cabbar has had several well received solo exhibitions in Istanbul and Brussels. He has also participated in many group exhibitions in the UK, US, Belgium, Turkey, Slovenia, and Macedonia. Between 2001 and 2004, he worked at RHoK Academy in Brussels. Currently, Cabbar lives and works in Brussels and in Istanbul.
