Devrim Kadirbeyoglu was born in Istanbul in 1978. After graduating from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Mimar Sinan University, she moved to the USA in 2000 and studied "Studio for Interrelated Media (SIM)" at Massachusetts College of Art in Boston for three years. Kadirbeyoglu puts her attention to the topic of identity in contemporary society. Her work resonates as a theatrical extension of daily life, where viewers become performers, reminding them that we all have social roles to fulfill. After success at Contemporary Istanbul and the Biennial Parallel in late 2007, Kadirbeyoglu′s career as an artist took over all aspects of her life. Her exhibition with Dam, Stuhltrager in January of 2008, marked a transition of her role at the gallery from beloved curator to acclaimed artist. Kadirbeyoğlu has been working on art and living in New York and Istanbul.
