Hatice Güleryüz was born in Denizli in 1968. She graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Izmir Dokuz Eylül University. She then completed her master’s degree at Plymouth University in England. She also studied as a researcher at the Fine Arts Jan can Eyck Academie as well as at the Post Graduate Program, Willem de Kooning Academie in the Netherlands. Her works can be seen in many museums, galleries, art exhibitions and film festivals in Turkey and abroad such as the 9th International Istanbul Biennial, Istanbul, (2005); Cultural Centre, Rio de Janeiro, (2005); Transmediale 2005, Berlin (2005); Els Hanappe Underground, Athens (2005); Centre Pompidou, Paris (2006); Freud Museum, London (2006); Berkeley Art Museum, San Francisco (2007); Townhouse Gallery of Contemporary Art, Cairo (2007); INSA Art Space, Seoul (2008); The Local at Glasgow International, Glasgow (2008); Zentrum Paul Klee, Bern (2009); the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen (2010); and MFSK - Museum of Contemporary Art, Roskilde (2010). Güleryüz published Strange Intimacies – Tuhaf Yakınlıklar (Istanbul: Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts, 2005). Currently, she lives and works in Los Angeles.
