Suzan Batu was born and raised in Istanbul. She studied translation at the University of Graz in Austria. She then moved to the United States and graduated from the Painting Department at California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland. After moving to New York from California, she completed her master’s degree at City University of New York, Brooklyn College in 1991. Since then, Batu has exhibited her works in numerous solo and group exhibitions in the United States, Turkey, Belgium, and Holland. One of her works was included in "Eye Candy", a traveling group exhibition of artists from L.A. and N.Y. Besides painting, Batu has curated many exhibitions, including the group exhibition "Fashioned". Currently, she lives and works in Istanbul and New York.
