Volkan Aslan was born in Ankara in 1982. He graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Mersin University in 2005. He continued his Master’s degree at Çukurova University. Aslan works with a range of materials and media in an interdisciplinary and inter-medial way. He has held many solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. In 2008, together with Nancy Atakan and Marcus Graf, Aslan established “5533,” an independent non-profit contemporary art space in the Istanbul Trader’s Association shopping center (İMÇ). With 5533, he had exhibitions with Nancy Atakan, and participated in film festivals, conferences and workshops in Turkey and foreign countries. Aslan currently works in Istanbul.
