Işıl Eğrikavuk was born in Izmit in 1980. She graduated from the Department of European Literature and Language at Boğaziçi University in 2003. She completed her Master′s degree in Performance Art at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2008. Since then she has been working as a professional artist, producing an immense body of work. Eğrikavuk has had many solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. She teaches media and video art at Istanbul Bilgi University. Eğrikavuk has received many awards, grands and schoarships including a grand prize of the Full Art Prize 2012, which was the first contemporary art award in Turkey. Since 2013, she has written a contemporary art column in a national weekly newspaper called High on Contemporary Art. Eğrikavuk currently continues her work in Istanbul.
