Associate Professor İsmet Çavuşoğlu was born in Tigovishte, Bulgaria in 1946. He studied at Stanke Dimitrov Art Institute (1967-1969) and Varna Institute of Education (1971-1973). He had his first exhibition in Bulgaria in 1984. He received first medal from the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Culture in 1985. He became a member of Bulgarian Painter’s Association. In 1989, Çavuşoğlu moved to Istanbul and completed his master’s and doctoral degree at the Fine Arts Department of Mimar Sinan University. He began working as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Plastic Arts of Kocaeli University. He has had many solo exhibitions, and has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. He has been awarded many times for his works. Çavuşoğlu has also written numerous articles, and has participated in many conference and symposiums. He looks at the relationships between people and their environments in his paintings. His works can be seen in many public and private collections in Turkey and abroad. Currently, Çavuşoğlu works as an Associate Professor in the Department of Fine Arts at Kocaeli University.
