Kasım Koçak was born in Tokat in 1951. He studied in the workshop of Neşet Günal and Özdemir Altan at the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts between 1970 and 1975. In 1979, he founded his workshop in Maltepe. Later he founded the “Maltepe Painters” with İbrahim Çiftçioğlu, Vural Yıldırım, Burhan and Ayşen Yıldırım, Celal Özgenç, Timur Çelik, Bayram Güçmüş, Arif Hikmet Erciyes, Selahattin Yıldırım, Mustafa Özel, Yüksel Diyaroğlu and Ahmet Akbaş. His first solo exhibition was held in Istanbul in 1985. Koçak won an award of merit in the DYO painting competition in 1981. Currently, he continues his work in Maltepe, Istanbul.
