Kemal Tufan

Kemal Tufan was born in Istanbul in 1962. After graduating from the Department of Industrial Engineering at Istanbul Technical University in 1985, he studied sculpture at the Sculpture Department of Mimar Sinan University and graduated in 1994. In 1989-1991 he worked as a choreographer at the City Theatre of Istanbul Municipality. He also worked as a choreographer, stage designer, actor, and dancer with various theatres, modern dance group, and Turkish folk dance groups in Turkey. In 2002-2013 Tufan worked as a curator for the Büyükçekmece International Sculpture Symposiums. In 2005-2007 he also curated the Yesemek Biennial in Gaziantep. In 2005-2013 Tufan worked as an Adjunct Professor at the Sculpture Department in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Marmara University. He has held many solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. Since 1993 Tufan has participated in various national and international symposiums and biennials. He currently lives and works in Istanbul.
