Lale Okonşar

Lale Okonşar was born in Beyrut in 1956. She moved to Cenevre with her family due to her father′s business. She graduated from the Faculty of French Language and Literature at the University of Strasbourg in 1977. In 1979 she returned to Turkey with her family and began taking painting classes from Lütfü Günay at the Turkish American Association. In 1980-1983 she continued painting in Germany. In 1983 she got married with Mehmet Okonşar, a well-known pianist, and moved to Brussels. Between 1983 and 1992 Lale Okonşar has participated in many group painting exhibitions and competitions and held her solo exhibitions in Europe. She received an award for her abstract painting in the Contemporary Arts Academy Awards Competition, which was held in Enghien in 1988. Since 1992 Okonşar continues painting at her workshop in Ankara, Turkey.
