Prof. Meriç Hızal

Meriç Hızal was born in Istanbul in 1943. She took art lessons from Eşref Üren in Ankara. From 1973 to 1979 she studied sculpture with Sadi Çalık and Hüseyin Gezer at the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts. In 1977 Hızal took a sculpture course and received a certificate from the Internationale Sommerakademie für Bildende Kunst in Salzburg. She also attended another sculpture course and received a certificate from Ecole Nationale Superieur Des Beaux Arts in Paris in 1982. In 1985 Hızal completed her doctoral degree in Sculpture at the Institute of Social Sciences of Mimar Sinan University. She became an Associate Professor at Mimar Sinan University in 1989. In 1992, Hızal took a further education course at Corso Superiore Di Disegno, Fondatsione Di Antonio Ratti in Como, Italy. In 1997 she received her Professorship at the Faclty of Fine Art of Işık University and Doğuş University. Prof. Hızal has held more than 15 solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions, biennials and symposiums in Turkey and abroad. She has received 19 national and international awards. Her work can be seen in many public and private collections in Turkey and abroad. Prof. Hızal currently teaches at Işık University.
