Muhsin Akgün was born in 1976. He studied photography at the Department of Photography of Yıldız Technical University, and started working as a professional photographer in 1995. He usually takes portraits and performance photography. His photographs have been published in national and international newspapers such as Radikal, Milliyet, Hürriyet, Sabah, New York Times, Guardian, Irish Tines, Le Monde; and many magazines including the Christian Science Monitor Boston, Freitag Berlin, Chello, Du Magazine, Asian Art, Rolling Stone Türkiye, Empire Türkiye, Sinema, Roll, Express, Bir+Bir, Millet Sanat, Marie Claire, and Varlık.
In 2000, he published his book "Lyrics and Music: Istanbul", which consists of the photographs from various concert by international musicians in Istanbul. He had his first exhibition "The Face of Moda" in Istanbul (2009) and Paris (2010). In 2012, he had his exhibition "15" in Alpach Europe Forum in Austria.
Currently, Akgün continues to work as a professional photographer in media and art institutions such as IKSV, Przitif, Doğan Media Group, Istanbul Modern Art Museum, Doğus Media Group, Kesişim Agency, Everest Publications, Doğan Book, Yapı Kredi Culture and Art Publications, Metis Publications, Bakırköy Municipality Theatre, and Tim′s Productions. Akgün also serves as the editor of photography in the lifestyle and book review supplements of Radikal newspaper.
