Murathan Özbek was born in Erzurum in 1983. He graduated from the Department of Economics at Bilkent University in Ankara. He completed his master′s degree in Cinematic Arts, Film, and Television Production at Bilgi University in Istanbul. Shortly after getting started in photography upon receiving a camera as a gift from his mother, Özbek won the Angels & Demons Contest Grand Prize in the Sony World Photography Awards in 2010. It was followed by the exhibition, titled "First Impressions of an Endless Dream" in 2010. His artwork was displayed at the Contemporary Istanbul 2012. In 2014, he received Golden Medal award in the Trienrenberg Super Circuit 2014 in Austria. Özbek currently lives and work in Istanbul.
