Nadia Arditti was born in Istanbul in 1948. At the age of seven, she moved to Geneva with her family and completed her education in Lausanne. She started painting at Atelier Martini in Geneva. Since 1978 Arditti has been living in Istanbul. She learned sculpture at Irfan Korkmazlar′s workshop in Istanbul. In addition to basic materials including bronze, Arditti uses nature′s leftovers for her sculptures such as stones from dry riverbeds, drift wood from faraway beaches and sea shells from the south coast of Turkey. Her sculptures have been made through the process of lost-wax casting. Arditti has held many solo exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. Her works can be seen in many private collections in Turkey, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Spain and the U.K. She currently continues her work in Turkey.
