Neriman Polat

Neriman Polat was born in Istanbul in 1968. She graduated from the Painting Department in the Faculty of Fine Art at Mimar Sinan University. She has had solo exhibitions including “Photo-Grave” (2007) in the Apartment Project, and “Father’s Home Apartment” (2008) in Pi Artworks. She has also participated in numerous group exhibitions and biennials in various countries such as Bulgaria, Georgia, Germany, Holland, England, Greece, Slovenia, Italy, Brazil, Belgium, and Spain since 1996. She exhibited her work in the 6th International Istanbul Biennial “Passion and the Wave” in 1999, and represented Turkey in the 50th Venice Biennial “Dreams and Conflicts”. Polat has been a part of the artists’ collective Hafriyat since 2000, and made various group shows with this collective. Polat is one of the artists administrating the alternative exhibition space “Hafriyat Karaköy” established in 2007. Reviews and articles have been published in prestigious art magazines, newspapers, books and catalogs both national and international. Currently, Polat lives and works in Istanbul.
