Assistant Professor Oktay Çolak was born in Trabzon in 1970. He graduated from the School of Business Administration at Anadolu University in 1997. He founded his company and worked in the leather sector for a while. Between 1998 and 2001, Çolak continued his master’s degree in the Photography Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Marmara University. He also worked as a researcher at the same faculty in 1998, and became a tutor in 2001. He then completed his doctoral degree at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in 2006. In 2009, he became an Assistant Professor. Çolak has taken many photographs in Turkey and abroad including India and America. He had his first solo exhibition “Doğa” in the Taksim Art Gallery in 2003. His second solo exhibition “On Yılda” was held in the Photograph House Art Gallery in 2004. This exhibition has been exhibited not only in Turkey but also abroad many times. He had his third solo exhibition “Portre Fotoğrafı Üzerine” in London in 2007. Çolak had another two exhibitions “Callan Okulunda Yaşam” and “50 Ülkeden 50 Yüz” in England. He has participated in numerous group exhibitions not only in Turkey but also foreign countries. He has also attended many slide shows, seminars, workshops, conferences and panels. Çolak has participated in lots of competitions and received many awards. His works have been exhibited in international museums. Currently, he lives and works in Istanbul.
