Ahmet Oran was born in Çanakkale in 1957. He studied in Adnan Çoker Atelier in the Painting Department of Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts between 1977 and 1980. During 1980 to 1987, he went to Vienna and continued his master’s class and attended the Atelier of Prof. Carl Unger for painting, stained glass and graphic and the Atelier of Prof. A. Frahner. Oran then graduated from the Applied Fine Arts School of Vienna University. As a person who calls for the action of his body in order for ideas to be translated to objects, he analyzes the possibility of progressing within the scope of conventional knowledge, usually canvas paintings. His paintings create a sense of surrounding spatial volume. Former works created a sense of entrance into the depth of the painting as opposed to the current ones that are opening to the outside and surrounding the viewer. Oran lives and works in Vienna.
