Altunay Geciroğlu started her painting career with Mr. Orhan Benli in 1987. In 1991, she finished the “drawing” course of Ministry of Education and received the teacher’s certificate. She continued to work with her teacher Mahir Güven for five years. Later on, she worked with various teachers in various studios. Since 1997, Geciroğlu has been painting in pop-art style and postmodern style. Now she continues to work in contemporary classical style. She modernizes the classical styles by combining them with geometrical forms to create her own style.
Geciroğlu has had 7 solo exhibitions and participated in many online and group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. Some of her works can be seen in private collections. She has won many prizes including the First prize (Kasdav), 3rd prize (Jokey Klübü, Kasdav), Jury Private Prize (T. Eczacılar Birligi and Kasdav). Her work in D.K.K. Competition was placed in the 1999 calendar. In the 2006 Bamtur Paradise Turkey Competition, her work was exhibited in Germany, France, Holland, Italy and Greece. In 2007, her works were also exhibited in the Çanakkale Art Prize Competition and in the “Global Warming and Climate Changes” Competition which was organized by the Turkish Ministry of Environment and Forestry. Currently, Geciroğlu continues to work at her workshop in Istanbul.
