Aynur Küçükyalçın was born in Bandırma in 1973. She decided to concentrate on art after receiving a medal in a national arts competition, which was organized by the Turkish Ministry of Energy. After graduating from a high school, she studied at the Fashion Design Institute for two years and received a diploma as a designer. She then graduated from the Department of Stage Arts and Costume Design at Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts in 1998. In 1996, her costume designs, uniquely uniting the tradition and the modern, attracted attention, and Küçükyalçın was assigned by a Japanese Institution to design the staff costumes of a theme-park in the Kashiwazaki Turkish Culture Town in Niigata, Japan. In addition to costume works, she learned traditional Ottoman “Illumination Art” (Tezhip) in the Topkapi Palace Museum for four years.
