Dagmar Göğdün was born in Zeitz, former East Germany. She moved to West Germany with her family and due to the profession of her father, she then lived in Mexico and Luxemburg for several years. After she worked as a foreign correspondent for English and Spanish two years in Spain, she came back to Turkey and worked for the great industrialist and art lover Dr. Nejat F. Eczacıbaşı in Istanbul. When her husband, a member of the Rotary Club, got the title of President, she and her husband decided to show Turkey from her intellectual side and organized an exhibition with works of the assistants belonging to the Academy of Fine Arts of the Mimar Sinan University. This exhibition was also held in Frankfurt and Vienna. Göğdün was a guest student at the Mimar Sinan University and took private lessons from the assistants Tanju Demirci and İrfan Önürmen. She opened her first solo exhibition after 4 years. She has had several solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. In 2005, she received an Honorable Mention Prize in the Akatlar Culture Center. In 2007, she participated in the 5th Painting Competition, which was organized by the Kadıköy Municipality and won a prize “Worth to Exhibit”. Her paintings can be seen in several collections in European countries such as the collections of the Turkish Consulate General in Hamburg and in the United States.
