İbrahim Örs was born in Tercan, Erzincan in 1946. Between 1965 and 1971, he studied at Bedri Rahmi’s workshop in the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts. He went to Dragebyget (Sweden) and studied painting at Jorn Nash’s workshop in 1971-1972. After returning to Turkey, he started teaching at the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts. Since 1986, Örs has taught painting in different art classes. In 1988, he founded Iasos Kunstskole with his wife, Bodil. Örs has had many solo exhibitions and has participated in more than 40 group exhibitions and biennials in Turkey and abroad. He has also received many national and international awards. Currently, Örs continues his work in Istanbul.
