Maria Kılıçlıoğlu was born in Sofia, Bulgaria in 1958. She studied textile at the State Academy of Fine Arts between 1978 and 1985. Since 1988, she has painted and made bronze sculptures in Istanbul. In 1993, Kılıçlıoğlu made an Atatürk bust and donated it to the Turkish Embassy in Sofia. She has had over 53 solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions. Her works can be seen in Turkey and abroad including Germany, Italy, France, Japan and the USA.
