Mehmet Güler was born in Malatya in 1943. After graduating from the Painting Department of Ankara Gazi Educational Institute in 1965, he started working as an assistant at his alma mater. He also worked as a painting teacher at several teachers’ schools. He passed an examination of the Turkish Ministry of Education and went to Kassel Fine Arts Academy in Germany. After completing his study, he returned to Turkey in 1976 and worked at Ankara Gazi Educational Institute for a year. He then moved back to Germany and has lived and continued his work in Kassel since 1977. Güler has had over 130 solo exhibitions and has participated in many group exhibitions, biennials, triennials and various art fairs in Turkey and abroad. His works can be seen in the collection of national and international museums, and many public and private collections.
