Mehmet Kutlu was born in Mersin in 1959. After graduating from the Faculty of Engineering at Çukurova University in 1982, he studied ceramics and graduated with the First degree from the Departments of Ceramic and Glass at Mimar Sinan Fine University in 1998. After completing his master′s degree at Mimar Sinan University (2012) and Hacettepe University (2012), Kutlu currently continues his doctoral degree in the Ceramic Department of the Institute of Fine Arts at Hacettepe University.
Kutlu has had several solo exhibitions and participated in many group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. He has received many awards for his ceramic works in various competitions such as Aegean Cultural Foundation Wall Plates Competition (1997), the Canakkkale Ceramics Tiles Design Competition (1997), Dumankaya Construction Co., Tiles Design Competition (1997), Tourism Ceramic Competition held by Turkish Ministry of Culture (1997, 1998, 2002), and the TRT Ceramic Competition (2001, 2003).
