Mustafa Sekban was born in Trabzon in 1950. He graduated from the Textile Department in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Marmara University as the top student in 1975. He then started working in Vakko as a textile designer.
Sekban particularly reflects the city and the street themes to his paintings and brings together photography and painting on his grand size canvases. In Turkey and abroad, he has had many solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions and fairs, including Tekel 10th Painting Competition Exhibition (2001), D.Y.O. 29th Painting Competition Exhibition (1999), 11th Tüyap Art Fair (2001), and the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Art Istanbul Fair. Sekban has also received many awards such as First Prize in the State Painting Commandership 4th Painting Competition and an Honorable Mention Award in the Adana Cement 9th Painting Competition. In 2007, Sekban participated in the Artist 2007 Fair with Casa Dell′Arte. In the next year, he joined the group exhibitions of Casa Dell′Arte in Istanbul and Bodrum. As of today, Sekban lives and works in Istanbul.
