Nüzhet Kutluğ was born in Konya in 1932. He graduated from the Painting-Work Department in the Faculty of Education at Ankara Gazi Institute of Education in 1953. He studied painting with Şeref Akdik, İlhami Demirci, Kemal Gökaydın, Refik Epikman, Malik Aksel and Mesut Erdem. Kutluğ held his first solo exhibition in Balıkesir in 1958. In 1972 he received a fellowship from the Spanish Government and went to Madrid to work gravure with Prof. Paricio and painting with Prof. Rocco at the Royal Fine Arts Academy of San Fernando.
Kutluğ taught painting at the Istanbul Institute of Education in 1973-1974, Istanbul Atatürk College for Teaching in 1980, and at the Atatürk Faculty of Education at Marmara University in 1982. In 1984 he received a doctoral degree in Proficiency in Arts. In 1977-1995 Kutluğ participated in many group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. He became an Associate Professor in 1986 and was appointed to the Department Chair in 1988. He received a Professorship in 1992 and became Head of the Department in 1993. Kutluğ has held more than 37 solo exhibitions and participated in over 100 group exhibitions. He has received many awards for his works. His works can be seen in many public and private collections in Turkey and abroad. Since 2001 Kutluğ has continued painting at his atelier. He is a member of International Association of Plastic Artists.
