Orhan Umut was born in Diyarbakır in 1972. He graduated from the Painting Department in the Faculty of Buca Education at Dokuz Eylül University in 1997. He has participated in various group exhibitions and held many solo exhibitions. He has received many awards including a jury special prize in the 65th and 68th State Painting and Sculpture Competition. Umut currently teaches painting at Diyarbakır Nevzat Ayaz Anadolu High School and continues painting at his own workshop.
