Prof. Özdemir Altan was born in Konya in 1931. He graduated from the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts in 1956. He was one of the artists, who improved and represented western ideas such as modernist, avant garde approach to pop art, especially postmodernism in Turkey. Working as an assistant, he completed his master’s and sufficient doctoral degree at his alma mater. Later he received the title of assistant Prof., associate Prof. and Professor at Mimar Sinan University. Özdemir has had numerous solo exhibitions and participated in many group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. In addition, he was famous as a writer and lecturer. He also curated the Avni Lütfi’s exhibition in 1968, which was the first organized exhibition in Turkey. As of today, Prof. Özdemir teaches at Yeditepe University. He has received 8 awards for his works.
