Prof. Dr. Şadan Bezeyiş was born in Adapazarı in 1926. He graduated from the Painting Department at the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts in 1951 with a first. He was elected by IDGSA in 1952 and sent to the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome to study to be a qualified specialist with the common decision of Ministry of National Education, ITU Presidency and Italian Cultural Attaché. In 1954, Bezeyiş graduated from the Department of Architectural Arts Higher Decoration at the Academy with a first and was awarded doctoral degree and Lodevole (Grand Master) academic honor. (International) Bezeyiş returned back to Turkey in 1955 together with merit bonuses, which he received in almost all branch of Fine Arts. In parallel with Painting and Sculpture works, he also worked on architectural decoration.
In 1956, Bezeyiş was appointed to the Faculty of Architecture at Istanbul Technical University as an assistant. In 1958, he participated in the International Venice Biennial and Lugano International Competition with his works and represented Turkey. Bezeyiş lived in Italy between 1958 and 1960 to pursue his post doctoral studies. He made professional analysis on intercourse between painting, sculpture and architecture and returned to Turkey in 1960 together with the degree of "Perferzionamento," which was given by the Academic Department. He got a job in the academic position and began working in the Faculty of Architecture at Istanbul Technical University. Since 1951, Prof. Dr. Şadan Bezeyiş has had many solo exhibitions and participated in numerous national and international exhibitions. He has been awarded plenty of prizes with his studies, including “Signal Reward in Arts” by Türkiye İş Bank in 1989 in painting branch.. His works can be seen in national and international museums and public institutions. Bezeyiş served as a president in the Faculty of Fine Arts at ITU; as a president in the Visual and Environmental Arts Branch at the Social Sciences Institute of ITU; as a president in the Culture and Art Section at the Rectorate of ITU. As of today, Prof. Bezeyiş teaches at the Faculty of Architecture of ITU and other universities. He also continues to work at his workshop in Istanbul.
