Associate Prof. Sali Turan was born in Trabzon in 1949. He studied painting at Istanbul Atatürk Educational Institute between 1970 and 1974. He continued his master’s degree at the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts between 1976 and 1981. He then taught as a lecturer at Marmara University, Uludağ University and Anadolu University between 1978 and 1987. Turan completed his doctoral degree with proficiency in arts in 1984. He became an Associate Professor. In 1987, he retired from teaching at the university and started working as a painter. Since 1990, Turan has made several study trips to Europe and the US. He has had many solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. His exhibition in the Grand Gallery at the National Club in New York in 2001 was visited by thousands of people and attracted widespread interest.
