Selim Cebeci was born in 1948. He studied architecture in 1972. He then began painting in 1980. In 1983, he abandoned architecture and took up stage and costume designing for theaters. He also worked as an art director in advertisement films. Since 1990, Cebeci has concentrated mainly on painting. In 1999, he had his first solo exhibition at the Yapı Kredi Culture Center, Kazım Taşkent Art Gallery. In 2002, he had his second solo exhibition “26/1” in the same gallery. One of his paintings was used on book covers of Murthan Mungan’s “Kırk Oda”, which had reached its 15th edition in 2010. In 2006, he had his solo exhibition at the Galeri Nev in Ankara. His works can be seen in private collections as well as in the permanent collection of the SantralIstanbul museum. Currently, Cebeci continues his work in Istanbul.
