Şevket Sönmez was born in Plovdiv, Bulgaria in 1978. He graduated from the Painting Department in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Mimar Sinan University. He then completed his master’s degree at his alma mater in 2004. Sönmez has had seven solo exhibitions in Istanbul. He has participated in many group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. He has received five awards for his paintings. Currently, Sönmez lives and works in Istanbul.
