Şiir Özbilge

Şiir Özbilge is a contemporary Turkish painter and designer. After graduating from the History Department in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Boğaziçi University in 1984, she lived and worked in Vienna. She returned to Istanbul in 2002. Özbilge devised her own technique in painting: she mixes sand, stones, earth, paper, and crystals with acrylic color, creating thick tissues on the canvas. She often uses textiles and other materials in her painting. She has held solo exhibitions in Vienna and Istanbul. Özbilge has been teaching art and painting to children for a long time. She currently lives and works in Istanbul.
