Soner Ön was born in Brooklyn in New York in 1980. He studied at BFA School of Visual Arts in New York between 2000 and 2004. He works in collage, photography, printmaking, and paint to channel everything from the grit of his Flatbush youth to the furthest reaches of outer space. Between 2004 and 2008, Ön worked as an assistant at several galleries and projects. In 2007, he received Community Grant for his Moon and Stars Project. He worked as a teaching assistant in the Printmaking Department at the School of Visual Art, New York between 2006 and 2009. He has curated several exhibitions including “Gonzo Country” (Mark Gonzales, Stackhouse Gallery, 2003) “Foot for the City” (Bigfoot, Stackhouse Gallery, 2003), “Grand Champions Forever and Ever”, (co-curated with John Breiner), “November Show” (Franklin Peppermint Gallery, 2004), and “2005 Show” (Franklin Pettermint Gallery, 2005). In 2009, Ön attended a panel discussion in conjunction with the Pera Museum’s “Octet” exhibition in Istanbul. Currently, he lives and works in New York.
