Suat Akdemir

Suat Akdemir was born in Istanbul in 1960. He studied in the studios of Özdemir Altan and Adnan Çoker in the Faculty of Fine Arts Academy of Mimar Sinan University for two years and continued his work at the same institution as an assistant. His abstract works contain numerous dimensions and layers. The artist rejoins several canvases to each other to observe the interaction between various materials such as footprints, rust and metal powder. He then adds acrylic paints, cuts and burns the pieces. He has had his solo exhibitions at the Art Sümer Gallery, Scope Miami (2007) and Scope Basel (2008), where his works were met with international acclaim. Akdemir currently splits his time between Istanbul and Bodrum in Turkey.
